Lindheimer senna is an erect, perennial, foul-smelling legume with one to several velvety stems arising from a deep, woody root. Its compound leaves are hairy, spirally arranged and have five to eight pairs of oblong leaflets. The flowers, which have five yellow petals, are borne in upper leaf axils and are in spikes about as long as the leaves. Plant Height Max. 4ft. Lindheimer’s senna, Senna lindheimeriana. A member of the Fabaceae or pea family, Lindheimer’s senna is a bushy perennial ranging in height from 1½-3 feet and arising from a woody root. The five yellow, oval petals have a distinctive crimp at the edges.
